Capoeira is a Brazilian Martial Art. A Roda is a circle formed by Capoeiristas who enter the circle to practice and showcase their art and skill.
Feel free to watch or participate in the open Roda – beginners are welcome.
12:15-12:45: Francisco Lara Explores Traditional Latin American Music
Francisco Lara is an ethnomusicologist and musician of Ecuadorian descent. Francisco will be exploring the traditional and folkloric music of Latin America’s diverse indigenous, mestizo, and Afro-descendant populations. This performance will feature unique instruments and engage the audience through participatory demonstration.
1:30 – 2:00: Meditation in Motion, Tai Chi
The Chinese Arts Alliance will lead Tai Chi for beginners. This is a great chance to participate and experience Tai Chi for the first time.
2:30 – 3:00: Bantaba Circle
A Bantaba is a circle of celebration where the community comes together to share ideas, creativity, and performance. The circle is open and participants are encouraged to express themselves through creative movement to the beat of drums
3:30 – 4:00: Hoola Hoop Dance with Grace Good
An introduction to the fun and exciting world of hoola hoop dance. Lean the basics and a fancy trick or two!
