Activities for Kids

The Children’s Area offers hands-on activities for children that highlight the elements that make up  any culture, including its Games, Arts, Sport, Homelife, and Learning.  There will be enriching opportunities for every child, including the very young child and accompaning parents, complete with a Nursing Station and Shady Picnic area

  • Toddlers will enjoy playing in the famous corn box and sand box while others blow bubbles.
  • For all the Science lovers…children ages 4-11 can explore hands-on experiments with “Mr. Bond, the Science Guy”
  • The First Tee of Nashville of our very own Metro Parks Golf at Vinny Links will teach chipping and putting to young golfers while others explore the history of how golf became popular in the hills of Tennessee.
  • A nursing station and rocking chairs will provide a much needed rest under a 100+ year old shade tree for mother’s with infants! This is located conveniently near the toddler corn box & sand pit for safety.

Come try some puzzles and games that will help build awareness of a wide variety of cultural aspects of the African continent. The AAMCA will share stories of African American history and explore the cultural impact of slavery in Tennessee.

Metro Parks Theater Dept
Kids will love the fun of creating, rehearsing, and presenting their own play, complete with costumes, on our kid-friendly “One-Minute Theater” stage.

Naam Yoga
Lets kids try some fun Yoga moves!

Your Gypsy Wagon
A new local favorite, Suzi Wright celebrates the music and storytelling that have influenced so many cultures, with highlights from the Hungarian, Spanish, Romany, and others. All from her colorful wagon, that salutes the traveling heritage of many cultures around the world.

Metro Parks Recreation Shade ‘n’ Play
The little ones will love a game of musical chairs, especially when they have to “crank out” the music them selves on our unique “Kid-trola”

Metro Parks Quiet Spot and Nursing Station 
Toddler friendly area, with rocking chairs for nursing mothers.

Metro Parks Musical Petting Zoo
A great chance to try many different instruments. Even the very young child can explore rhythms and sounds in this hands-on booth.
